A big thank you…

16 Jul 2024

We are delighted to be hosting two family friendly festivals in the east end of Glasgow this July – The Alexandra Park Festival Day in Alexandra Park, Dennistoun on Saturday 20 July and The Bridge Family Festival at The Bridge, Easterhouse, on Saturday 27 July.

A very big thank you to our partners, supporters and funders for helping us put on the festivals - we are grateful to receive their support. As well a generous grant from the National Lottery Community Fund for The Bridge Family Festival, other financial support to deliver the events comes from Glasgow City Council Local Area Planning Committees (for the North East, Bailieston, Calton, East Centre, Dennistoun, Shettleston, Springburn/Robroyston wards), Creative Scotland and Milnbank Housing Association. Funding and support enables us to put on the festivals, offering events packed with exciting activities, entertainment and opportunities for everyone to come together and have fun.

Matt Addicott, Artistic Director for Platform, who are organising both festivals said: “We're excited that it’s summer festival time once again and to support two family-friendly festival days in North East Glasgow. These festivals have been running for a number of years and we welcome thousands of families along each year”.

“All activities are free or subsidised to keep costs low and entry itself is free. The popular live wrestling show from Glasgow based Iron Girders Gym is back at Alexandra Park Festival Day and one of the highlights at The Bridge festival is a free roller disco – we supply the skates, so just bring yourself!”.

“Both festivals will have live performances, rides for children, art activities and lots of community groups and organisations will be hosting stalls too.  There will also be free face painting, sports activities and food and drinks too – there really is something for everyone and both festivals are great days out”.

Mark your calendars for 12 noon - 4pm on the 20th July for Alexandra Park and the 27th July 2024 at The Bridge for a fun-filled day. Keep an eye on our social media channels @platformglasgow for more information about activities on the day. See you there!
