Ivan McKee MSP visits Mining Seams

17 Jan 2023

As our Mining Seams and Drawing Wells: A Living Archive for Easterhouse draws to a close, it's been wonderful welcoming lots of different groups, schools and visitors in for a look round and tour of the various exhibits. The exhibition closes on Saturday 28 January with our communal lunch closing event Tenement Kitchen (free and all welcome).

Margaret McCormick, our Arts & Communities Lead, met with Ivan McKee MSP recently at Platform and chatted through the exhibition, where the idea came from and how the local community and groups got involved.

Ivan said: “I had a fantastic visit to Platform to see their Mining Seams and Drawing Wells exhibition, exploring the history and stories of Easterhouse. I thoroughly recommend a visit before it closes on the 28th of January”.

Ivan's visit co-incided with a visit from Helen Moore - Membership Lead for the Scottish Contemporary Art Network (SCAN) who also had a look through the exhibition and shared information on their recent Scottish Parliament visit by SCAN Director Moira Jeffrey who gave evidence to the Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee, highlighting the impact that proposed budget cuts will have on the arts industry.
