Made in Easterhouse: A Carnival of Overlapping Histories

Sat 9 Sep | 2pm until 7.30pm
All ages
£8.50

Made in Easterhouse, Platform's multi-artform festival day returns this September for it's second outing of the year. Produced in collaboration with Ashanti Harris, an artist working with sculpture and installation to create artworks which celebrate who we are and where we have come from.

Live performance and music from Paix, Mele Broomes, PAQUE and Ranjana Thapalyal has been programmed around Ashanti’s newest artwork A Carnival of Overlapping Histories, to create an immersive experience that celebrates community and art.

Running alongside the live programme will be a series of films curated by Joanne Lee, in our Studio Theatre Space – providing a quieter relaxed breakout area. And we’ll have a special dinner option on offer at our (licensed) café bar - which will be serving drinks and refreshments throughout the event.

The day will kick off with a special soundbath led by PAIX entitled music as medicine. Audience will be invited to sit, lie down and relax amongst the installation and immersive soundscape. This will be followed by an artist talk from Ashanti Harris giving insight into the process and ideas involved in making the installation. Following this will be a spoken word performance by Ranjana Thapalyal with sound by Paul Hyland, Sound Seed II. There will be a short break for food and drink for Platform’s café bar with DJ ButhoTheWarrior playing tunes in the installation. One of Scotland’s leading hip hop artists PAQUE will perform live along with some special guests and the event will close with a new performance by Mele Broomes, Seasonal.

Join us for food, drinks and a fun day out!
