An account of weekly workshops by Isabel Dickens
Earlier this month we had the pleasure of inviting friends and families of our Monday Night Drama group along to a sharing of their work.
It was fantastic for the group having an audience to perform to – and perform they did, with a showing of their newly created Spidersaurus Park show!
The group of 8-16 year olds meet every Monday night at Platform and sessions are designed to develop skills and confidence through games, workshops and regular performance opportunities. A great opportunity to learn, get creative and make new friends!
Artist Geraldine Heaney, Monday Night Drama leader, said: “I absolutely love working with Monday Night Drama. Spidersaurus Park felt like an excellent example of the fun, chaos and hard work that goes on each Monday. The show was so silly and I think the audience would agree that you can see the young people lead the way we make shows.
“I was super proud to watch it all come together and to see the group totally throw themselves into it. A lovely warm audience and lots of smiling faces, including mine. I can't wait to see what the group will come up with next!".
Here's a clip of the sharing:
Monday Night Drama takes a break over the summer holidays and starts again on Monday 28 August (5.30 – 7pm). The group is split into two groups within the session - one is open to all young people aged 8 - 11 years and the other open to 12 - 16 years.
Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. If interested in finding out more or joining, click here.
