Work With Us: Lead Artist and Producer Internship Opportunity

18 Dec 2023

Looking for a new opportunity for 2024?

We are recruiting for two roles to join our team at Platform - a lead artist and facilitator to collaborate with Thursday Night Drama, our intergenerational performance group, and a freelance Performing Arts and Communities: Internship Producer.

LEAD ARTIST (FREELANCE)
Deadline: Monday 22 January 2024 at 17.00
Thursday Night Drama is a place for people aged 16+ who have an interest in performance. The group have a collaborative approach and are committed to exploring new ways of creating work. For 18 months, the group has been working with Performance Maker Eoin McKenzie on 'People Dancing'. Throughout this time, they have been exploring a wide variety of movement and choreographic practices. Platform is now looking for a new lead artist to continue this journey and create something new.

The Lead Artist will plan, develop, and deliver Thursday Night Drama sessions at Platform from February 8th through to late June 2024. Sessions take place at Platform each week between 6 - 8pm and will be supported by Access Artist Carmen Berbel Lapaz. Throughout this period, you would lead on the creation of a new outdoor work that can be presented at Platform’s various Summer Festivals in July 2024.

We’d like to meet new practitioners who have skills in facilitation, community practice, and performance-making. We are interested in connecting with artists whose practices feel exciting, accessible, and rooted in artistic rigour. The role is open to artists from any art form, as long as there is evidence of a connection to live performance and a suitability to creating outdoor work.

In collaboration with Eoin and Carmen, Thursday Night Drama participants will shortlist three applications and invite these individuals to lead a 30-minute taster with the group on the 1st of February. Each shortlisted artist will receive a fee of £100 as a contribution towards their time.  Thursday Night Drama will then meet to discuss these tasters and vote to select the artist they would like to work with.

The successful artist will lead a total of 18 Thursday Night Drama sessions, with a total fee of £1,700 offered - this is based on an hourly rate of £45.

Anyone interested in the role should write a brief (no more than one side of A4) cover letter to Platform and Thursday Night Drama explaining:

- What excites them about the role
- What they will bring to the group and makes them a good fit for the role
- And a sense of how they would like to work with Thursday Night Drama

Please send your letter along with a copy of your CV detailing relevant experience to performance@platform-online.co.uk
An online information + Q&A session on the role will be held online at 3pm on Monday 15th January 2024 - email performance@platform-online.co.uk to register your interest
