Pots and Pans, Peppers and Carrots

Platform Associate Artist Nik Paget-Tomlinson:
This week for the Play Cafe I was on my own. I brought along some pot and pan percussion together with the musical fruit and veg keyboard which uses the Makey Makey to enable ordinary fruit and vegetables to become musical instruments. After a short demonstration and performance I invited the parents and carers to help make drumming brushes for the children out of drinking straws – which means (in theory at least) that children can drum on the pots and pans with out making loads of noise (definitely a good thing from a parental perspective). We then took turns drumming on pots and playing the carrot and keyboard.
