Platform launches free summer meal takeaway

23 Jun 2020

We’re delighted to announce a new FREE summer meal takeaway for children and their families living in the North East of Glasgow.

Running throughout the school summer holidays, starting from Monday 29 June until Friday 7 August 2020, the Platform team will be giving out free meals - breakfast items and lunches - to take away and eat at home. This a drop in service and no referral or sign up is required - just turn up on the day.

Meals can be collected between 11.30am and 1.30pm (Mon to Fri) from The Bridge Car Park. Social distancing measures will be in place and 1 person per family to collect where possible.

We will also be giving out free creative activity packs - and have plans for other creative activities throughout the summer. We also have a stock of free sanitary products for those who need them - please request these from a team member.

Thank you to the Glasgow City Council’s Children’s Holiday Food Programme for funding this project.

What’s on at Platform over the school summer holidays…

Platform Singers Choir

Our friendly choir is free to attend and takes place online every Friday afternoon at 4pm on Zoom. Aimed at adults (age 16yrs+) and led by professional singer Rachel Hynes it is a great way to meet new people and have a chat. No singing experience is required.

If you need technical support to help get you online, we can assist with this too. To join please email info@platform-online.co.uk for more information.

Join our Mail Art project

We have recently launched a fun new mail art project for North East Glasgow and would love for you to get involved. We’ll send you some inspiration and a stamped addressed envelope to post back your contribution – this could be a drawing, photograph, story, poem, joke - it’s all allowed! We will share some of these in our fortnightly newsletter – in print and online. You can find some issues here.

Ideas for wee ones

We’re missing our weekly Play Café sessions for 0-4 year olds and their adults but we are posting an activity for early years audiences on our social media channels each week. From fun things to make and do to music and performance, these will hopefully keep your little ones entertained! Check in to @platformglasgow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on Wednesday mornings at 11am to see what’s new.
