The last few weeks have been super busy and super fun here at Platform as our team, alongside some fantastic artists, headed out into our local community.
First up was a stop off to The Glenburn Centre with Karl Jay Lewin’s show Extremely Pedestrian Chorales - a bit of fun to brighten up a dreich Monday!
Our Dear Green Place programme of workshops and performances, focused around COP26, got well underway with artist Katrine Turner and her team leading school-wide performance workshops with staff and students from local primary schools - Oakwood, Avenue End and St Rose of Lima.
We are also working with Science Ceilidh, who began their workshops with P6 and P7 pupils at Aultmore Park and St Benedict’s primary schools. We’ve had some great feedback already from schools, with Aultmore Park reporting: “What a great time we had at our Science Ceilidh with Platform Glasgow - learning about greenhouse gases and their effect on the earth”.
We took performance Maya and the Whale (performed by Hazel Darwin-Clements) to Lochend Community High School, Garrowhill Primary, St Timothy's Primary and Oakwood Primary. Miss Bracelin, teacher at St Timothy's said: " We were especially thrilled to be active audience members, thank you for a wonderful, thought provoking performance.
Artists Ashleigh and Rebecca have been leading workshops with local nursery schools as part of Dear Green Place - and Bottles, a character from The Climate Crisis Cannot Be Cancelled was out and about and visited St Benedict’s primary.
Our Art Factory group also joined in on the activities and headed out into the beautiful green spaces beside The Bridge to gather little pieces of nature in and then examine the shapes and colours under microscopes with artist Jamie Wardrop.
Workshops and performances will continue to be delivered across the community for two weeks before the project comes to an end on November 12th with two special live Climate Ceilidh events here at Platform.

As part of our Dear Green Place project we plan to visit over thirty east end nurseries, primary schools, high schools, clubs and groups over the next few weeks.
