Film maker Geraldine Heaney's film of the tenth year of Platform activity
There was lots of big birthday love around for last week's Made in Easterhouse 2026 multi arts festival birthday bash, celebrating 20 years of Platform.
The event, which opened with performances from Helen Charman and people from Platform's Taking Part groups sharing songs, musings, stories and poetry plus some Easterhouse inspired songs by Platform Singers, provided a platform for people to come together, chat, take in some entertainment and enjoy some food and drinks.
The event showcased a mix of artforms - with performances from Monday Night Drama, performance and art from David Sherry, live music from Sacred Paws, The Provans and Akashic Records' Listening Outpost with DICK50 featuring L + R.AGGS, plus a DJ set from Glasgow Library of Synthesised Sound (GLOSS), screen printing commemorative tea towels with Print Clan plus live portraits from Project Ability.
Durty Beanz also created some brilliant goody bags which included a much coveted golden sculpture of a monster munch crisp! Read more about Durty Beanz project with Platform here.
Cranhill Arts also carried out talks and tours of the brilliant The Glaswegians exhibition which is currently on display at Platform (free admission - drop in!).
Platform started the year with a bold approach to turning 20 – supporting, creating and delivering 26 creative projects and live events throughout the year – one being Made in Easterhouse 2026 festival. The event certainly heralded the past and the future - 20 years of Platform in motion; live, open, experimental and still making space for what happens next.
We hope everyone enjoyed a big slice of birthday cake on us! Thank you to everyone who came along and helped us celebrate - and to those who have supported, visited, taken part and been part of Platform in the last 20 years!
Can you spot yourself in any of the pictures?
