Made in Easterhouse, Platform's multi-artform festival day returns this autumn
Ashanti Harris is an artist working with sculpture and installation to create artworks which celebrate who we are and where we have come from.
With October marking #blackhistorymonth we are proud to be part of the wider celebration with this new installation.
In June 2023, volunteers from Glasgow North East residents were invited to exchange stories with Ashanti and work together to create a plaster cast of their face. The project celebrates the cultures and family histories of the Caribbean, Africa and Asia - and explores how these have entangled with Scotland's own.
This new exhibition opened on September 9 at our Made in Easterhouse festival day, presenting these collaborative artworks of sculpture, collage and textiles which depict the stories shared. You can read more about the exhibition here.
Ashanti worked collaboratively with Platform to produce the Made in Easterhouse festival day. Live performance, music and workshops took place around the immersive installation, to form a day long celebration of community and art.
