Get your weekend started with some relaxed food, drinks and tunes from Housekind, Freda D'Souza & L.T. Leif. Enjoy a bowl of chilli as part of the ticket price (vegan option also available) and drinks & snacks will be served all evening from the Platform Café Bar.

Doors 5.30pm, music from 6.45pm - finish time to be confirmed!

The event is part of the Dual Purpose Sculpture event series at Platform. A series of events, workshops, and surprise pop-up activities will take place around a new sculpture by Maria Gondek, The Brolly - on display at Platform throughout July. Stay tuned for the full programme.

Housekind is the moniker of Edinburgh-based alternative folk artist Shea Martin (they/them). Their debut EP ‘The Foam Road’ is out on OK Pal Records on June 16th, 2023. Originally from rural south-west Donegal, Martin was reared on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in the vibrant folk tradition of the Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking area), one of the few remaining in Ireland. This impossible wild beauty is reflected in their song-writing, drawing on a unique culture and community rich in narrative and alive with music.

The Foam Road prominently features masterful percussionist Callum Younger, & Robyn Dawson (Meursault, Faith Eliott, L.T. Leif), who recorded and produced the EP as well as contributing atmospheric string parts.

Freda D'Souza is an artist who contentedly creates at snail’s pace. Her world is small; simplicity reveals detail and, in turn, detail reveals infinity. Her songs place the unspeakable intensity of love and life within a warm and shimmering sonic world, filled with layered vocals, lush strings and dynamic arrangements. Out June 2023, her debut EP Windowledge explores the trials of intimacy and the value of introspection and forging space for reflection. Freda cherishes space. In space, there is tenderness.

L.T. Leif - an adopted member of the Scottish DIY music scene whose life and art has been heavily shaped by northern landscapes and climes, L.T. Leif is rooted in the self-sufficient spirit of the Canadian prairies, and carries with them the indelible experience of spells spent living in Iceland, Finland and drawing inspiration from the Pacific Northwest. Leif has been involved in many bands and projects, first entering the scene with Calgary orchestral pop sweethearts The Consonant C. Since the group disbanded in 2011, Leif has explored many configurations and approaches, from experimental noise collaborations with the infamous Bug Incision crew to playing sold-out shows with the  punk-hearted OK JAZZ, drumming with slacker-rock bands (Hex Ray and Hungry Freaks), playing synths with Matt Swann (of Astral Swanns), and singing in a witch choir (Hermitess). Leif’s admirers include K Records maestro Calvin Johnson (they toured together with The Believer Magazine).

Their most recent album, Come Back To Me, But Lightly, came out on in January 2023, on Lost Map Records, in collaboration with fellow Scottish label, OK Pal Records.

OK Pal Records is an independent, artist led record label based in Glasgow & Edinburgh. Founded in 2018 by Hailey Beavis (she/her) and Faith Eliott (they/them), it has since evolved into a small syndicate of spiritual warriors, good bois, egg and spoon race athletes and mummydaddys in muddy white suits doing photo shoots on escalators. Music is released on cassette, CD, vinyl, and other amulets of sonic possession.
