On a wet, wild and windy afternoon last week, it was wonderful to enjoy a splash of colour and vibrancy at the official opening of Project Ability’s Reconnect Painting Show.
We welcomed the artists themselves as well as the Project Ability walking group, and other guests, to the event which marks the start of a four month long exhibition at Platform of a series of large scale paintings.
ReConnect artists from Project Ability have been working for months in the Reconnect studios in preparation for this new exhibition.
Coco (26) Renfrewshire, the artist for two of the artworks said: “It’s a good opportunity to show my work and a real privilege. It can be a challenge to find space to show my work - I’m so happy to be part of the exhibition”.
Taking full advantage of the large scale exhibition wall, paintings created are large in scale compared to what the artists normally have the opportunity to make.
The eclectic mix of styles and subject matter showcases the talented artists that come along to Project Ability each week as part of the studio programme for artists with lived experience of mental ill health. Each artist displays their own style, painting techniques and explore their own themes and subjects.
On at Platform until 6 April 2024. Admission is free - drop in. Further info here.
