Taking Part sharing at Platform

18 Jun 2025

This week marked the end of current Platform Taking Part block (Apr - Jun), to celebrate, participant's family and friends were invited along to watch some of the amazing things that the various groups have been working on.

The Monday Night Drama group screened a film they have been working on for this past year, all about a magical poncho. The screening took place during their last session and was a great way to see all of the hard work put in by each and every person who had worked on making the film. The magical poncho itself was knitted by the Platform knitting group, Clack and Yak, who meet on Monday mornings in the Platform Cafe Bar.

On Tuesday night, the music classes came together in the Platform auditorium to perform pieces that they have been working on during this Taking Part block. It was a wonderful evening of performances and a brilliant chance to see everything the musicians have been up to.

Tuesday also saw the opening of the Spotlight: An exhibition by Art Factory and Nu Gen. The new exhibition features a range of drawings, paintings and sculptures created by the young people and adults who have been attending Platform's weekly taking part art groups. The exhibition runs until Saturday 30 August, and it is free to drop in and take a look at, anytime Monday to Saturdays, 10am-5pm (open to 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays) - find out more here.

All of these events have been the perfect way to round off this block of Taking Part and we can't wait until they start back up again in August after the summer break - keep your eyes peeled for posts about this and more information to come!
