Book Offer: Let Us Act for Ourselves

12 Nov 2020

Earlier this year, writer, historian and activist Joey Simons completed a residency with Platform by publishing Let Us Act For Ourselves a collection of poetry, prose, scenes from plays and other selected writings by Freddy Anderson.

Freddy was a prolific writer, poet, playwright, lifelong socialist and republican born in County Monaghan, Ireland in 1922 and a resident of Easterhouse and Garthamlock from 1946 until he passed away almost twenty years ago.

For almost three years Joey worked with Platform to research Freddy’s life and art. During his time with us he met and spoke with many of Freddy’s peers and contemporaries. Graphic Designer Valerie Reid then worked with Joey to produce this beautiful publication.
