Durty Beanz (DB) is a Glasgow-based Action Research Group working across contemporary art, digital anthropology and socially engaged practice.
Alys and Simon of Durty Beanz are currently working with Platform on an exciting new project TODAY’S SPECIAL: TOMORROW. The work extends their collaborative approach to public practice through the development of a series of sculptures for Platform. Combining workshops, engagement and consultation with ambitious making and fabrication, the project explores how food can carry stories about who we are, where we come from and where we might be heading!
Alys and Simon have been working with some of the groups at Platform - including Saturday Art Club and Art Factory - looking to gather up what people love about food, favourite snack, nostalgic foods that bring back memories etc. Fill out the questionnaire here to share your foody thoughts!

Established in 2019, DB use humour, storytelling and the tittle-tattle of everyday life to explore relationships between people, places and all the stuff in between. They are interested in ordinary things. Jokes. Chip-shop specials. Italian brainrot memes. By taking these moments seriously, they sniff out unexpected routes into contemporary cultural life, making work that is both conceptually rigorous and widely accessible. Collaboration and participation are central to everything they do. From workshops and interviews to games and shared meals, DB use creative research methods to find out what really matters to the people they work with, and how to make artwork together.
