"It is twenty years since we first opened the doors at Platform. In that time, we’ve hosted art and artists from across the world here in Easterhouse and supported communities to watch, participate and collaborate in this work.
"To celebrate two decades of creative activity, we have supported twenty-six different projects to be developed, produced, shared and celebrated as part of our programme this year. Twenty-six projects celebrating twenty years, all made here under the banner Made in Easterhouse 20:26.
"We’ve had visits from owls, roller discos and world-famous comic book illustrators. Anniversary films have been screened, new and original performances produced, cakes eaten and carnivals paraded.
"But we are far from finished and determined to make the most of every last second of the party by celebrating our anniversary until the very end of the year.
"As I write, the final touches are being added to Made in Easterhouse 2026, a multi-artform festival to be held on Friday 23rd October.
"Multi-artform celebrations have formed a key part of our programming over the years. Outskirts, Eastern Promise, Headspace, Flutter Echo, Big Days Oot and Wee Days In have all looked to create space for the alchemy and magic that appears when performance, music and visual art collide. Those moments when you find something you were not expecting, a new artist to follow, a new art form to try, or just a great night out you were not expecting.
"The line-up for this event feels really exciting, with performances from resident groups like Monday Night Drama and Platform Singers sitting alongside Akashic Records’ Listening Post, Project Ability’s Live Portraits and sets from The Provans and Sacred Paws. The festival also provides us with a chance to see where Helen Charman’s conversations have taken her, what Durty Beanz have been up to and how the incomparable David Sherry has responded to the building with his newly commissioned Public Performance Sculptures. With live screen printing with Print Clan and a further chance to celebrate the amazing work of Cranhill Arts and their Glaswegians exhibition, the line-up is stacked.
"Platform continues to be a rich and varied source of inspiration. It is a pure privilege to work here, I am very grateful for all that the arts centre has brought into my life and look forward to celebrating two decades of the venue and all the adventures yet to come.
“Hope to see you there!”
