Joining us at Platform on Sat 4 May is Nordic group Fire!, made up of core trio Mats Gustafsson, Johan Berthling and Andreas Werlinn, who are also members of the diverse and disparate acts The Thing, Tape and Wildbirds & Peacedrums. Skewing tradition whilst blazing new paths and fresh approaches in improvised music – Fire! is influenced equally by garage punk, free jazz, electro acoustics and the noise of heavy industry.

New album The Hands was released in January 2018 on Rune Grammofon and displays a single-minded and enthralling mix of heavy, dark and intensely burning music.

”...Mats Gustafsson, whose sax has never sounded more bloodied and bruised than it does here, now has a three-piece unit easily The Thing’s equal in sheer heft and force.” The Quietus

“Ducking clichés in taking a different approach, Fire! could be seen to be freeing up free jazz.” Record Collector
