The classic tale of Black Beauty as you’ve never seen it before.
Glasgow’s most unique festive gig returns for another year! Christmas Carousal sees some of Scotland’s best musicians take the Platform stage for the festive season.
This year we are delighted to welcome Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, Sound of Yell and WOLF onto the set of our Christmas show - the renowned ‘Black Beauty’ by Andy Manley, Andy Cannon and Shona Reppe.
Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra is a large improvising ensemble of around 20 musicians from diverse artistic backgrounds ranging from free improvisation, jazz, classical, folk, pop, experimental music and performance art. Since its inaugural project in 2002, the Orchestra has established an international reputation and garnered critical acclaim for its innovative projects and its exploration of improvised music.
Sound of Yell is a project led by Stevie Jones, theatre and film sound designer/composer and prolific collaborator with Arab Strap, Alasdair Roberts and El Hombre Trajeado among many others. Over the years Sound of Yell have played across Europe in various incarnations, from a 10 piece ensemble to a trio, from a record launch to performing a live score for surrealist silent cinema classic La Coquille et Le Clergyman. On this occasion, Stevie will perform an immersive instrumental solo set using acoustic steel string guitar, tapes, electronics and Moog.
WOLF is the solo project from Kim Moore, former member of much loved indie pop band Zoey Van Goey. Beginning as a collaboration with artist Fergus Dunnet, a conversation between illustration and sound, WOLF made her first release in the form of a short video game called Snowblind. WOLF has continued to morph slowly, being influenced along the way by the many projects across dance, theatre and film that Kim has worked on as composer/sound designer.
