‘The Grey Earl - a collection of work’

This December we are delighted to present a selection of drawings, illustrations and prints by The Grey Earl, also known as Jon Bishop.

Jon is an artist based in Glasgow who works in illustration as well as creating visuals for music and children’s theatre company, The Letter J.

Over the last five years Jon has been developing his distinctive style in creating illustrations that have a distinct sense of humour and playful nature. Jon has also broadened his creative endeavours in creating visuals for music and children’s theatre company, The Letter J. Jon has also created the beautiful imagery used for our past three Christmas shows Three Little Pigs, Puss In Boots and our current Christmas show Rapunzel.

Past exhibitions have taken place at The Schaffa Exhibition in Adelaide (2010), North Edinburgh Arts Centre (2014), National Gallery, Edinburgh, as part of the Picture Hooks exhibition (2015), at The Macrobert in Stirling (2016) and Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries.

The Letter J

He is one half of The Letter J, a children’s theatre company who have toured the UK extensively with performances of their first show ‘Grandad and Me’ at Imaginate Festival 2014, Made in Scotland showcase at the Edinburgh Fringe 2015, as far south as Battersea Arts Centre in London and more remotely, over the choppy west coast waves to the Isle of Eigg.

He is currently developing a children’s picture book and a new range of work to be exhibited in 2017.
