“That was cracking!”
Terrific, cracking and lovely was just some of the great feedback we received when we headed out recently ‘on tour’ with the fabulous Jon Ritchie and That Swing Sensation!
The dancing shoes were well and truly dusted off as Platform took the band on the road for some live gigs at The Glenburn Centre, Baillieston Care Home and Helenslea Community Hall, where the audience danced along to hits from ABBA, Elvis, The Beatles and many more!
Jon and the band have been a popular fixture at our much loved tea dances over the years and are very well known with tea dance regulars - so we were delighted to team up with them once again and take the show on the road and out into our local community.
A staff member at Ballieston Care Home said: “The residents loved it, that’s the first live entertainment we’ve had since the first lockdown, well over a year - thank you!”.
Platform Arts Manager Matt added: “As well as the audience enjoying the gig, the Platform team and musicians had a fantastic time too. It was lovely to get out and about sharing work and supporting performances across the community”.
The visit follows Platform’s recent tour of six local nurseries and childcare settings across Easterhouse with Buff and Sheen - the roaming, comical dance show about cleaning!
Platform will be taking more music and performance on tour across the north east of Glasgow before the end of the year. If you are interested in us visiting your organisation then please get in touch - email@example.com.
The tour was made possible thanks to support from Creative Scotland’s Performing Arts Venue Relief Fund.
