Introducing the ARTIST STUDIO project with Alice Dansey-Wright.

10 Sep 2020

We are excited to welcome back artist Alice Dansey-Wright with her new project, ARTIST STUDIO. The project has been designed by Alice, an associate artist with Platform over the last 3 years, in response to Covid-19 and the restrictions and setbacks that have come with it.

ARTIST STUDIO will work with our NU GEN and Saturday Art Club groups to examine what it means to ‘work from home’, and how we carve out spaces to be creative and to create great things from our kitchen tables (with the rest of life happening around us).

Dreams, aspirations and imagination will play a big part and Alice will share her domestic space and home life through the films, photographs and outputs of the project.

Alice will be meeting with the NU GEN art group via Zoom on a Tuesday evening and will be creating make-a-long activities for the Saturday Art Club every week between September to December 2020. ARTIST STUDIO combines engagement and facilitation with Alice’s own artistic development and will see her sharing her research, development and new work online.

Alice says:

‘I’m very happy to be working with Platform on this project! Lockdown and the ongoing restrictions related to Covid-19 have presented lots of challenges for my work but they have also engaged by imagination and opened up new artistic processes. The ARTIST STUDIO project is a unique opportunity for me to develop and share my work with the support of Platform and the on-going stimulus of engagement with the NU GEN and Saturday Art Club groups’
