Sarah Hopfinger on what has inspired her to make Wild Life
We caught up with Lewis Hetherington, writer of this year’s Christmas show at Platform - Mother Goose Fae Easterhoose - on this thoughts on the show…
“I’m absolutely delighted to be back at Platform for this year’s Christmas show - this is my 6th time writing a show for Platform!
“This year I’ve written my version of Mother Goose and it’s a classic tale about family, money and temptation but with plenty of up to date twists and local references. It’s a big hearted story with lots of jokes, songs and suspense! It features an all-female cast – even our Goose – Bruce – is a gender non-conforming goose and Greta (Mother Goose’s daughter) is inspired by Greta Thunberg.
“Christmas is also a time where, if we’re lucky, we get a chance to take a step back and think about things. I think coming to theatre at this time of year is a chance to bring the whole family together and have an hour away from everything, to give us space to think about the big things, the things that really matter - whilst being swept away in a magical and fun piece of storytelling!
“The creative team and our all-female cast are absolutely fantastic and with the run already started, are giving great performances which are full of colour, surprises and Christmas cheer! Our cast – Judith Williams, Amy Kennedy, Michelle Chantelle Hopewell and Nicole Cooper -are amazing performers who really bring to life the wonderful Mother Goose, the fearless and determined Greta, the inimitable Bruce and the very un-festive and devious Annunziata”.

As the bills mount and Greta’s unrest grows, Mother Goose is led astray by a mysterious stranger called Annunziata who promises her great wealth and eternal youth. But at what
Featuring an exciting story full of twists and turns, as well as knockout songs by the likes of Dolly Parton, Eurythmics and Lizzo, Mother Goose fae Easterhouse promises to be a raucous and big hearted story about family, love and what we all really need this Christmas!
