Hexagone audio haunt success!

19 Nov 2024

On Sat 9 November, The Bridge building was turned into the venue for a spooky, interactive audio audio haunt - Hexagone!

Produced Moon and Storydive worked with young and emerging artists aged 14-25yrs from the local area to create a new audio experience, fusing audio storytelling with mind-bending puzzles, plunging participants into a ghostly adventure where reality blurs with the supernatural!

Billed as **3 Million Followers. 1 Megastar. 0 Traces. Unravel the most chilling disappearance of the year in this new immersive experience! Mark Benet, Europe's rising horror icon, has vanished without a trace. Was it a publicity stunt gone wrong? A sinister plot? Or something far more terrifying?** participants used a smartphone to decode cryptic clues around The Bridge,  where every step could be their last... or a breakthrough. Could the truth be uncovered before it's too late?

Alongside the haunt there was a Q&A with the project creators  - including 4  of the young people involved in the project answering questions: Darcey-Leigh, Logan, Saffron and Lennon - alongside the artists from Produced Moon. The Q&A also included a chat with Lyra Young Company who were performing 'That Feeling When' on the same day in the Platform auditorium (and which the Hexagone creators then attended afterwards).

The Q&A focused on the creative process, how the group made up the concept, story and characters, their experiences of voice acting and recording, what designing the puzzles was like, about what it was like to make a spooky/horror story, and their highlights of the experience.

Audience questions ranged from ‘What was is like to work with the German collaborators story-dive?’ and ‘What were some of the main themes and horror tropes you explored in the creation process?’ to ‘What was it like to collaborate within a diverse age range of 14-24yr olds’?

Some feedback from the young artists/creators:

  • "It's so exciting to see people listening and experiencing something you've made entirely from scratch"
  • "The teamwork within the group really made it such an amazing creative experience, to see the way the story came together inspires me to do many more projects like this."
  • "This was so much fun to do, meeting and working with new and familiar faces was so nice."
  • "It was wonderful to work together to create something original and be involved in it's production and have it be premiered like this."
  • "It's brought my confidence out and I've found out I really like acting and drama. I will 100% do something like this again."

During the day of the event, the young artists helped at the Platform welcome desk for those attending Hexagone and were on hand to assist audiences with the puzzles. They also had a try of the the audio haunt themselves, which was fun to do together as it was the first time for some of them hearing their voices in the recordings and see their puzzles in 'real life'.

Hexagone was designed, written and performed by Megan Baxter, Jessica Bradley, Awais Iqbal, Saffron Jezewski, Anastasia Joyce, Fay Jurriaanse, JJ McGonnegal, Kyle Nicholson, Logan Quail, Darcey-Leigh Sheppard, Lennon Versey & Abby-Ellen, with Produced Moon and Storydive. Trainee Facilitator: Margot Conde Arenas. Sound Design: Chizu Anucha. Photo and Video Documentation: Tao-Anas Le Thanh & Lucas Chih Peng Kao.

Audio Haunt concept was created through international collaboration between Hamburg based Audio Walk creators and app developers Storydive, and  Glasgow based interactive and immersive creatives Produced Moon. This work is the meeting of two practices and a mutual passion for bringing formal experimentation to participatory contexts.
